Head of Russian government awarded the best lawyers of the country
Awarding Ceremony Lawyer of the Year took place on December 3 in Moscow. Among the participants was Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of government, Chairman of supervisory board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
This year prize winners became Georgy Tolstoy and Jahangir Kerimov, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Victor Blazheev, rector of Moscow State Law Academy, Vladimir Bublik, rector of Ural State Law Academy, Alexander Golichenkov, dean of judicial faculty of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Besides Nataliya Sheveleva, Dean of judicial faculty of St. Petersburg State University, Irina Reshetnikova, Chairman of the Federal Arbitration Court of Ural federal district and Dmitry Shumkov, Chairman of Situation Centre Council of legal initiatives were awarded.
Sergey Stepashin, Head of Accounts Chamber and Yuri Chaika, General Prosecutor were awarded Medals for achievements in law.
“I think that the idea to select the best, to provide possibility to legal community to determine the best representatives of our jurisdiction on a stand-alone basis has been justified. And the award plays important role in the development of corporate culture and responsibility of lawyers to society” – pointed out Mr. D. Medvedev speaking at the awarding ceremony.
The prize Lawyer of the Year is established by the decree of the President dated October 8, 2012 №1129 on the highest law prize Lawyer of the Year is awarded on December 3 every year on a professional holiday of Russian Lawyers - Lawyer Day. Lawyers are awarded the highest law prize for significant contribution to development of legal state, reinforcement of law and rule of law, rights defense and legal interests of citizens as well as significant contribution to the development of Russian legal science.
